PennAhead has no accounts, no ads, and no third-party analytics or tracking. Here is everything it collects and why.

Usage counts

To understand how many people use PennAhead, the server keeps aggregate counts: page views per day, visits per hour, and device type (phone, tablet, or desktop, based on your browser's user agent). To count unique visitors for the day, it keeps a one-way hash of your IP address combined with the date, in memory only; it is never written to disk and resets every day. Raw IP addresses are not stored by PennAhead.

Settings on your device

Your line filters, theme, dismissed alerts, and the train you have open are saved in your browser's local or session storage so the app remembers them. They stay on your device and are not sent to PennAhead.

Cookies

PennAhead does not set cookies for visitors. A single cookie is used only to keep the site administrator signed in.

Hosting and links

Requests pass through PennAhead's hosting and network providers (including Cloudflare), which process IP addresses to deliver and protect the site under their own privacy policies. Links to other sites are governed by those sites' policies.

Children

PennAhead is a general commuter tool and is not directed to children under 13.
